I found the video with Jimmy Wales, the founder of WikiMedia, to be incredibly interesting. Like many others, I have been told time and time again that Wikipedia is not a reliable source of information. After watching this video, however, I have seen Wikipedia in a whole new light. Not only is Wikipedia a site which is full of information from different people all around the world, it is also a found which give back to the population. The founder, Wales, is very interested in helping out others and satisfying the quest for knowledge from individuals worldwide.
He talks about how he really wants to "broaden the horizon" of the website. One of the most profound things he says during the interview is that he wants "the knowledge of Wikipedia to reflect the knowledge of the world". I found this to be very interesting and really thought-provoking. He doesn't just want the site to be article after article written by doctors in different fields, yet wants people to be able to somewhat relate to what they are reading. I have gained a whole new respect for the WikiMedia Foundation and feel as though they truly do have a lot to offer the online community.
